Rio Info Conference 2011

We would like to wish all of you a great start into 2011 in order to make all your wishes come true. We believe that constant and hard work can change our life, as well as others life. Therefore we will continue also in 2011 to distribute part of our knowhow and budget to support other young entrepreneurs in several countries of this world.

We also would like to say thanks for the people and friends that helped us on this issue. Hopefully we can continue and even expand our activities in the coming years. Great thanks also to your ideas and financial contributions in order to keep our idea and activities alive.

We hope to hear from many people again in 2011 and we further hope that many people will hear us in 2011 as well!

The “Inmaculada Concepción de Maria” committee formed 4 months ago and works with Fundación Paraguaya. Most of the members already engage in productive activities, but for their new cycle they have included in their membership women who will undertake new enterprises. Each has a different activity according to her particular convenience, such as Sra. Antolina who decided to begin selling clothing from her home since she lives in a very crowded area. She says that she is very happy with the group and that she would like to increase the quantity and variety of clothing offered by her business. She is requesting this loan to purchase pants, socks, shorts, shirts, T-shirts and dresses.

About Group Loans

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

HoQECS CSR just made two new loans for young entrepreneurs in Bolivia and Phillipines.

Mr. Juan Cartagena, 28, lives in the Mallco Rancho – Sipe Sipe area of Quillacollo province, Cochabamba department.

He is an unassuming, hard working person who wants to get ahead in life. He is a farmer and also a driver in transportation. A few years back he was just a farmer but has had to seek additional employment because the lack of water has decreased farm production.

He wants to go back to being a farmer full time because he has fields sufficient to grow food and feels this activity can help him improve his life. However, in order to do this he needs to have sufficient water.

He has, therefore, asked for a loan to be a shareholder in a well so that he can have enough water to irrigate his plants and thus be able to be a farmer.

Mrs. Saturnina Libatog is from the village of Dimaluna, Ozamiz City. She is 46 years old, married, and has two adult and two school-aged children. To make a living, Saturnina owns and operates a general store. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes primarily from selling a variety of different products in the local community. Saturnina has been engaged in her business for more than ten years and earns approximately 3,000 PHP a month for these activities.

In July 2009, Saturnina joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve both her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 14,995 PHP from PMPC.

Saturnina is requesting a new loan of 14,995 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional products for her retail store. This will be her fourth loan from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family and to save for future emergencies.

About PMPC:
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) is one of the most progressive cooperatives in northwestern Mindanao. It reaches out to the rural poor using the Grameen model.

As HoQECS CSR is already for longer time in close touch with Instituto Crescer, a mayor Brazilian NGO to train and support kids in new technologies, we are now happy to support the special project of “Escola em Acao”. This project is already running for 3 years in the city of Macae and now really makes a difference in the city. The schools are now open during the weekend and night! Sport, technical and cultural courses take place to give space to the kids to learn, have fun and find somebody to ask for their urgent questions. It also helps to get the necessary technical skills in order to have a very good chance in the job market, which requires more and more advanced technical thinking.
